Beneficiary: For 80 years, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) has offered welcome and hope to more than half a million refugees. Since 1939, LIRS has transformed lives...to welcome the most vulnerable to the United States — from sea to shining sea. Together we have supported, equipped and empowered these new Americans, while advocating for policy that protects all of God’s children.

Artist Statement: In the last few years, a host of daunting and painful problems have pummeled our world. But with every challenge there are steadfast individuals and groups that forge ahead with consistent courage to fight for justice, and care for the vulnerable. These people give me hope that I feel a profound gratitude for. When I received the stone in this piece it immediately told me how it wanted to be set. The morganite stone is of Afghan origin from Caleb Quashen, a purveyor that puts a priority on ethical mining and direct relationships with small mines and stone cutters. It came in the mail soon after U.S troops began to withdraw from Afghanistan. Immediately Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service stepped in to anticipate the needs of refugees and marshal volunteers. My profits from this piece will be donated to them.

50% of the sale of this piece will be donated to the beneficiary listed above.
