Artist Statement: This daisy necklace was inspired when I saw three daisies reaching for the sun. Gardens inspire my work—the colors, shapes, buds, blossoms, leaves and pods beg for transformation into clay. For that I am grateful. Life-long friends and long-lived passions have filled me with gratefulness. Some friends have been part of my life for generations. Others are newer to my life but will be here for decades to come. Long-lived passion of art is central to many relationships and to my being. How could we be who we are without those ties? For that I am grateful. During Covid I found solace in friends, family, gardening and clay resulting in a concentration of my world. The feel of forming a vessel or a small bead of clay, the smell of a sun warm tomato vine, the sound of a child’s laughter, the warmth of a hand touch, a loved one grocery shopping to keep me safer. It has brought new pleasures from the not-so-ordinary everyday. For that I will continue to be grateful.
