Artist Statement: The artwork I create has always been a tribute to the idea of honor. The jewelry series, I have been constructing/fabricating lately have to do with that time honored tradition of respect and history of signet rings and cylindrical seals. I am fascinated by the idea of a personalized signature of an individual by the use of symbols and a story behind the stamping. Everyone has their own story and something to teach others. The signet rings have been said to be as unique as your own fingerprints, no two are the same.

Artist Bio: Shayla Vines is known as a metalsmith and sculptor. She holds both a BFA and MFA in jewelry and sculpture. For the past 25 years she has taught metalworking at both the college level and high school level. When not teaching she runs her own limited edition jewelry business as well as works on private and public commissions.
