Stacy Rodgers | Heart Strings Cushion Cut
Artist: Stacy Rodgers, Pennsylvania
Materials: sterling silver
Size: 7
Artist Statement: I have always been fascinated with anatomy because every line, every recess, every form has a unique refined purpose which is the sustaining of life in an organism. The essence of my artistic voice is the highlighting of the explosive undulating lines and corresponding negative shapes within life forms across our world through hand-pierced metal. I'm focused on getting people to wear anatomy and not just the anatomy in our bodies but also the anatomy from within a starfish, microscopic organisms or trees. A statement on the connection within all life that we take for granted. This ring series is inspired by the beautiful undulating musculature found within the human heart. I began studying drawings of the human heart for inspiration when my son was born with a heart defect. Its perfect form works every hour of our lives without us even thinking about it.
