A Feast of Textures with Chasing and Repousse
Instructor: Megan Corwin
March 22-24, three-days, Friday - Sunday, 10:00 - 5:00
Class Fee: $590 |$10 Materials Fee payable to the instructor
Class format: in studio at Danaca Design
Come join Megan Corwin in exploring the great textures and forms uniquely possible with the techniques of chasing and repoussé. In this beginning class, students start by learning to use the pitch bowl, chasing hammer and chasing tools to define and texture the front of a piece of sheet metal. Then create form and height by working the back of the sheet using repoussé punches.
We will focus on experimentation and developing your skill set by creating samples and a simple finished piece. Megan will bring tools for you to use during class and handmade chasing tools by Bill Dawson will be available for purchase in the studio. However, you will also make one or more chasing or texturing tools for your own personal collection.
Check out Megan's website to see some examples of chased and repoussé work. Discover new ways to express yourself in metal!

What students are saying:
"Megan provided a warm and inviting presence to our class. We were all essentially beginners with this technique and she was. patient, gaging her instruction based on what we were able to take in at the moment. Plenty of work time with lots of demos. Great class! Hope she teaches another one!" -Annette 10/22
