Artist: Deb Karash
Materials: argentium, silver/copper bimetal, sterling silver, prismacolor pencil
Dimensions: 3.75"x1.5"

Artist Statement: My work is often inspired by botanical forms so the tulips in the fabric were a perfect inspiration. The colors were also taken from the fabric. The pieces are fabricated in a combination of sterling silver, argentium silver, and copper. After some preparation to create a receptive surface, I draw on the copper with colored pencils. The pieces are sealed with a lacquer and then waxed to preserve the finish.

Artist Bio: Deb Karash was raised in the Midwest before making the move to the mountains of North Carolina. Settling into her new mountain home, Deb now lives in Asheville, NC with her partner, David, and works in her studio in The Phil Mechanic building in Asheville's vibrant River Arts District.

From her studio in the mountains, Deb continues to draw inspiration from the landscapes that surround her, infusing her work with the colors, textures, and shapes of the natural world. Her pieces reflect both her Midwestern upbringing and her love for her mountain home, creating a unique blend of influences that resonate with audiences far and wide.

Just as important as her studio work is her teaching. Deb teaches online and all over the world and takes great joy in helping students realize their ideas through her workshops. She is also the creator of The Little Black Block, a forming/riveting tool for jewelers.
