YUKATA INSPIRED 2024: A Creative Collaboration between Okan Arts and Danaca Design

Join us for a CLOSING RECEPTION & JAPANESE TEXTILE sale with tea – June 23, Sunday 1-4, Gallery Showroom RSVP HERE.

We'll be featuring a special Japanese Textile Sale with Okan Arts. Patricia and Victoria will be on hand with a beautiful array of yukata cottons and other treasures. Plus, enjoy complimentary tea and treats as you browse the art and fabrics one last time.

Vintage hand-dyed yukata cotton from Japan is the inspiration for, Yukata Inspired 2024, an exhibition featuring metal and jewelry work alongside mixed media collage. The fabric, provided by Okan Arts, was sourced from over 30 vendors in Japan—antique shops, vintage warehouses, used kimono shops, and pickers. Chusen-dyed by artisans, not machines, the textiles were produced 20 to 60 years ago using a traditional stencil technique. Using motif and color as a beginning point, 21 metalsmiths and 10 collage artists affiliated with Danaca Design took the challenge—to design work inspired by or made from this luscious and dynamic fabric. Don't miss our third iteration of this wonderful exhibition!

Exhibition Dates: May 10 – June 23, 2024
