Brandy Worsfold | Kaleidoscope Ring

Artist: Brandy Worsfold, California
Materials: brass, glass, acrylic
Size: 8.8

Artist Statement: My last battle, I created a ring with a working maze game, and I wanted to create something interactive this time, too. I took inspiration from a glass marble, and how it creates an entirely different view of reality. The world feels very different depending on the day and your perspective, and I wanted to create a ring that reflected that idea. So on this ring a bird soars over brushed clouds and a starry sky band; very different from our grounded worldview, but we humans can seek a different perspective by looking through the functioning kaleidoscope on this ring.

I have wasted many hours figuring out the smallest kaleidoscope I could make by hand and still see through with my naked eye, and delighted in many *more* hours of looking at my surroundings as a mandala of colors and pattern. This ring one-of-a-kind ring was created from brass, acrylic, and glass.

Artist Bio:  Brandy Worsfold is the artist & silversmith behind Crow Totem Arts. She grew up overseas as a tck (third culture kid)—and lived like a local, exposed to a variety of cultures, religions and world views. She loves mythology, fairytales and rituals she grew up learning from around the globe. She infuses this knowledge within her artwork and stone selections for each piece.

Brandy has been making art for over 20 years with a BFA in Studio Arts, and an MFA in Art Photography. Art isn’t a job or a hobby, art is her life and connection to the world. Whether she is creating jewelry, painting, photographs or writing, her work is filled with symbols and meaning. You can follow her work on Instagram @brandys_crowtotem
