Carolina Andersson | For the Love of Making and Flowers

Artist: Carolina Andersson, Washington
Materials: sterling silver, freshwater pearls
Size: 7

Artist Statement: This ring started out with a pile of sterling scrap, some beautiful pearls, and a bunch of dry flowers.

I melted the metal, forged the ring shank, melted some more metal to create the flowers, fabricated the flowers one by one with a delicate flower texture. Then some sawing, filing and other finishes. Et voila’ I had a bunch of flowers to arrange into a bouquet, that is how this piece was born. I loved the process, the way it came together and the result.

Artist Bio: I have been making jewelry for many years. I started out studying jewelry making at an art school in Milan, Italy where I lived for several years. Originally, I am from Sweden and I now live here in the Pacific Northwest. I sell my jewelry in a few galleries in the area. The reason why I make jewelry is because I really enjoy the different processes involved in working precious metal and the making of a piece of jewelry.
