Artist Statement: Once Upon a Time is a locket ring that tells a story of epic proportion in a tiny scale. This locket is in the guise of a book reminiscent of a vintage fairytale. The cover is made using blue vitreous enamel hand-painted using gold mica and set in sterling silver. When the book is opened inside rages a battle between a fire breathing dragon and courageous knight made with 24k gold wire and transparent enamels. The inside cover is engraved with the author (Darci Shea) and the binding is garnished with keum-boo gold leaf. The ring band is a size 9 set with 1 mm CZs.

Artist Bio: Darci Shea Studios creates handmade cloisonne enamel jewelry and accessories. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted using glass enamel, precious metals and gemstones inspired by nature, conservation and storytelling. Darci Shea has a background in illustration and marine science which she combined with her passion of metalsmithing to create timeless wearable works of art.
