Artist Statement:
"Red or Green?" Red or green Chile is the most common question asked to a customer at restaurant when they are ordering food in New Mexico. It goes with almost anything and New Mexicans eat it on almost everything, including Ice Cream. With stylistic inspiration from Fred Harvey Jewelry and the found object from a tourist gift shop in Historic Mesilla, I hope to capture the purity of New Mexico and what it is known for.

Artist Bio:
Debbie Jo Baxter was raised in Albuquerque and is currently living and working in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Baxter received her BFA in May 2019 from New Mexico State University, with a focus of sculptural ceramics. She works full time at a gift shop in Mesilla, New Mexico while making jewelry during her free time.
