Ting Lu | Dim Sum Basket

Artist:  Ting Lu, GA
Materials: Fine Silver, Sterling Silver, Mother of Pearl, Ebony Wood
Size: 6.5 (Can't be resized)

Available for Reproduction

Artist Statement: This is a nested jewelry piece where the ring is a locket that resembles a small dim sum basket, with a "sweet bun" necklace pendant hidden inside.

The ring was fabricated with sterling silver, with the basket top weaved with fine silver strips.

It comes with a pair of removeable wooden "chopsticks". The “sweet bun” pendant is mother-of-pearl set on sterling silver. You can keep the "sweet bun" inside the basket, or wear it separately on a provided sterling silver chain.

Technical Process Info: Metal weaving, fabrication, stone setting, wood carving.

Artist Bio: Metalworking, through the eyes of art, and involvement of math, physics, and chemistry brought the challenges that I am always looking for. I consider myself a "jack of all trades" with a diverse set of jewelry making skills. To complement metal, I often experiment with unconventional materials. I love to engineer playful kinetic jewelry with movements, and multi-purpose jewelry pieces allowing more than one wearing option.
