Kate Caswell | The Angler

Artist: Kate Caswell, New York
Materials: sterling silver, 22k gold, 18k gold, Ethiopian opals, pearl
Size: 7

Artist Statement: Did you know the shape we associate with an angler fish is always female? The males are significantly smaller and they fuse themselves to the females to mate and receive nourishment. From the looks of it, this angler is single and ready to mingle!

This little lady was carved in wax and cast into Sterling silver. Her Ethiopian opal eyes are set in 22KY gold and her Pearl lure is capped in 22k and 18k gold. Watch her flirt with a flick of her fins and a playful lure flip.

Artist Bio: Kate received her BFA in metals at RIT’s school for American crafts. Lots of travel and retail jewelry positions later she returned to the bench for herself specializing in wax carving and lost wax casting. She is currently chasing her whimsies in western New York State.
