Artist Statement:
You know when you are walking in the evening or early morning and the sun hits that perfect angle and suddenly the world glows? That feeling of how everything cannot help but be all right when there's so much beauty in the world...that moment, as we turn the page on the pandemic, is what I was thinking of while designing this ring. I wanted to express the beauty that comes from age and layers of time revealed in the golden hour. My ring name, Pentimento, is what it's called when layers over layers in a painting reveal themselves over time.

I set a technical challenge for myself to explore whether the combination of torch fused gold on fine silver, layered with sterling silver granulation while soldering the structural elements of the ring would work...I'm happy with the aged patina that resulted!

Artist Bio:
I'm a Seattle born architect turned metal worker in my free time. In jewelry design, the memory of a particular place--whether natural or manmade-- has become my focus. I'm inspired by what I see in the world, creating pieces that evoke the shadow pattern of leaves, or the spray from the waves at the beach or the feeling of fog on a city street. My pieces are rustic; they have patina made through layers of color and texture just as the world is composed of change over time.
