Artist Statement:
I normally work with porcelain to create small-scale, slab built, functional objects for eating, drinking and serving. A few years ago, I started playing with the offcuts and leftover 'scraps' of clay which turned into little components that I could turn into wearable art.
This ring is part of a series of porcelain jewellery that I have been working on recently, that is inspired by my discoveries while scuba diving. I have met the most beautiful sea creatures and seen amazing coral formations on my underwater explorations. Eusmilia Fastigiata is another name for a family of smooth flower coral, with round, tubular projections. It is normally a creamy color, but in the right light, its tips can appear shine golden in the mottled sunlight.
