Melissa Scoppa - Sundial Signet Ring
Artist: Melissa Scoppa
Materials: sterling silver, black diamonds
Size: 7
Dimensions: Face of signet is 9mm x 11mm, 3mm band width
Artist Statement:
The Sundial is one of the earliest time-keeping instruments and exists today as more of a symbol of the fleeting nature of time. Sundials are found all around us if you know where to look. A beautiful combination of both art and science the sundial illustrates the relationship between the passing of time and the Earth's rotation.
While there is sometimes a somber tonality to the mottos they are emblazoned with, they provoke an equally uplifting desire to take in the moment and have an appreciation for time and its value.
Sundial Motto:
"Use the hours, don't count them."
Artist Bio:
Melissa's work is centered around the idea that wearing a piece of jewelry can be a reflection of your identity and a way to hold close the personal messages, reminders or memories that are important to you. Symbolism is used heavily tying a sense of meaning to each piece of jewelry. Concepts such as time, memory and storytelling are themes that crop up throughout the collections. Melissa's work is hand made with care and quality materials in her Bay Area California studio.
