Jenn Wagner | The Only Constant is Change

Artist: Jenn Wagner, Delaware
Materials:  sterling silver, 14K yellow gold, bronze, enhydro quartz with carbon sand inclusion, white sapphire
Size: 8

Artist Statement: From the “second star” to the right of Peter Pan, the “starry archipelagoes” and 'uncontinented seas' of Moby Dick; the inexplicable interconnectedness of the night sky, moon, stars, tides, waves and sea itself has fascinated man since the beginning of time. Inspiring poetry, art and science, now the gentle play of sea and sky can be held in the palm of your hand. Always changing but always the same.

Completely hand fabricated in sterling silver, 14k yellow gold, and bronze, the two independently spinning bands of the ring represent the night sky complete with gold moon phases and a leaping bronze dolphin, and a silver ship sailing on gold waves. The focal piece is a locket that contains a magnificent enhydro quartz with moving bubble and carbon sand inclusion. The stone is set to come out of the ring and be a stand-alone pendant, or to be kept in the ring with chain and all. Change your look but keep the stone the same - though, with the inclusions, the stone constantly changes.

Artist Bio: Jenn Wagner is an artist in Lewes, Delaware specializing in jewelry, small sculpture, and fine metalwork. She explores the relationship between metals and touch - representing tattoos in a metal sculpture, or creating a kinetic pendant that is intended to be physically moved as it is worn. Her small sculptures invite interaction, and the jewelry that she creates is multi-sided and dimensional. The metals that she uses include gold, sterling silver, and bronze. Each metal reacts differently to years of being touched. Gold smooths, silver shines, and bronze glows as contact with our skin creates beautiful patinas naturally over time. She is motivated by the idea of a piece growing with its owner. Jenn has worked with many clients to create bespoke and distinctive pieces that they can treasure forever as well as creating pieces for sale. Although her pieces tend to be smaller, she has created life-sized bronze sculptures for many clients including the City of Lewes.
