Max Meier | Such a Cold Finger

Artist: Max Meier, Indiana
Materials: custom bronze alloy, sterling silver
Size: 10

Artist Statement: I had the idea for this ring while working on an art project about a year ago, that involved making several dozen plaster casts of my fingers. I immediately knew the idea was too funny to pass up, so here we are! I started with an ingot of bronze I cast to be a good color match for gold, rolled it into sheet, and fabricated a rough tube. Then I filled it with pitch, and added the rest of the detail with chasing tools. It was primarily meant as a fun side project for me - reference to any film is purely incidental, but if anyone is beckoned into a web of sin as a result of its creation, I consider it a happy side effect.

Artist Bio: Max is a metalsmith, currently a third year MFA in metalsmithing/jewelry design at IU Bloomington and holds a BA from Earlham College.
He got his start in metalwork through blacksmithing at an early age and has gradually focused in on finer details in his work as time has gone by. His work is influenced by a love of fantasy, as well as an interest in tools, processes, and mechanisms.
