Bunny-Ear Iris - Fuchsine

Artist: Andy Pletz
Materials: Mixed Media
Dimensions: 8x8 in

Artist Statement: I love the simplicity and clean lines of Japanese art and fell in love with the colors of the Yukata fabric. While collages are often filed to the brim with images, I strove to maximize the color and keep the imagery straightforward. This mixed media work is a montage of gel print, paper and encaustic.

Artist Bio: Andy is an aspiring artist who, since recently retiring from the corporate world, has been exploring her fascination with collage. The medium has opened up a wondrous world that’s allowed her imagination to take over in ways she never expected.

Bunny-Ear Iris: The iris flowers with petals that rise straight up from the center are known as Bunny-Ear Iris. Flourishing in the spring, the iris represents good news, glad tidings, and loyalty.

This piece was part of the Yukata Inspired 2024, a collaborative exhibition between Okan Arts & Danaca Design featuring metalwork and collage. Learn more and view the entire collection HERE.
