Chasing and Repoussé in Sterling Silver
Instructor: Megan Corwin
November 8-10, Friday - Sunday, 10:00 - 5:00
Class Fee: $590 | Materials list

Prerequisites: familiarity with Chasing and repousse

Class Description:
Sterling silver is artist and instructor Mēgan Corwin's favorite metal to chase and Repoussé with. It lends itself to crisp edges and dramatic textures yet is soft enough to create voluptuous forms. One of the major differences between sterling and pure metals such as copper and gold, is that it firescales. Among other things, Mēgan will share her tips and tricks on how to keep the metal firescale free while working it in pitch. Mēgan is excited to share her joy and understanding of this sometime finicky material in this new class designed for intermediate/advanced students.

Students must have some experience with chasing and repoussé, be able to work in pitch and be familiar with basic chasing tools. Mēgan will bring chasing tools to work with. Students are encouraged to bring their own tools and pitch to class.

Students MUST Bring:

  • 22g - 20g sterling silver sheet (available in studio store)

Students MAY Bring:

  • pitch pots, chasing tools and hammer (all available to use in the studio)
