Artist Statement: The "Celestial Spinner" is themed around our solar system. The “earth” is made from malachite on one side and lapis lazuli on the other.  It spins within a sterling silver wheel which in turn spins within a silver and gold hemisphere, with two diamonds set on either side that can be used as handles to spin the globe. On the opposite side of the ring, the “moon” is a blue-green Oregon Sunstone set in 14k gold. The band has been textured and oxidized to look like a star-studded night sky, and is carved with three different constellations: Orion, Aquarius, and the Big Dipper.

For the stand, a “sun” made from a 7mm Madeira citrine sits in the center of the solar system.  It is accented by copper solar rays, on a sterling silver disc. The sun is supported by a “comet” with fiery copper rays coming up on the back side of the stand. The whole thing is wrapped and surrounded by an oxidized copper black “universe”. A copper and silver cartridge fits into the back side which holds batteries and an LED, so that when the ring is on the stand, the constellations light up.  This part is representative of a telescope and its ability to illuminate the night sky for us!

Artist Bio: Tyler Haas has been making jewelry in Bend, Oregon for 6 years now: "My designs carry a whimsical fantasy look and tend to stand out more as wearable art than everyday jewelry. Many of the pieces I make explore the contrast between rough masculine edges and swirling feminine grace. I love to incorporate a mix of silver and gold into my pieces and use them to highlight the vibrancy of natural gemstones".
