Carolina Andersson | Flower Ring No4 "Succulent Trio"

Artist: Carolina Andersson, Washington
Materials: sterling silver, freshwater pearls, 23 K gold
Size: 8.5

Artist Statement: I got the idea for this ring when I was visiting the Conservatory in Volunteer Park here in Seattle. I love the greenhouse with all the cacti and succulents. Succulents are so gracious and beautiful; they are like small miracles, like many things in Nature. Making this ring was pure joy, it came together exactly like I wanted it. This ring is entirely hand fabricated, the “succulents” petal tips are polished to make the piece more interesting and to give the it more depth, the ring shank is forged and made to sit on the finger in a very comfortable way. My favorite part of the trio is the little bud, it gives hope of longer days, spring and sunshine coming soon.

Artist Bio: My name is Carolina Andersson. I am originally from Sweden. I live here in the Pacific Northwest since many years. I started making jewelry I long time ago when I lived in Italy. I went to a school and learnt how to make jewelry the old-fashioned way, like it has been done in Italy for many, many years. We made everything by hand, and everything started with an ingot. I love how to make pieces of jewelry by hand with a few basic tools; starting out with a pile of silver and transforming it into pieces of jewelry. I sell my work in a few galleries and I still love making after so many years.
